My research focuses on vegetable breeding using conventional and molecular techniques to develop disease resistant cultivars with horticulturally desirable traits. My doctoral and post-doctoral reseach studied these topics in sweetpotato, while my current research concentrates on watermelon (gummy stem blight and fusarium wilt) and bell peppers (Phytophthora capsici).

I also teach classes in Plant Breeding (PBGG 6140) and Germplasm Conservation and Utilization (PBGG 8390), as well as module on Sustainable Seed Saving (HORT 3300).
